After hearing how Faisal proposed to Amela, I knew this man loved her more than words could even express. Their love story is one of patience, creativity, generosity and overwhelming love, I think my jaw dropped by the end of hearing it. Faisal started planning his proposal to Amela a year after they met, two years before the actual proposal. He wanted it to be special and something that, looking back, would be a memory they could cherish for a long time. Both of them are life-long students, valuing education and books and  he came up with the perfect plan when he was being recognized for his contributions to the new San Diego public library. He took the opportunity to seal a special message into a public place, on a customized brick that would be part of the library’s courtyard.

Faisal had “Amela Jaan: Will You Marry Me?” inscribed on the brick. After two years of concern and hopes that she wouldn’t stumble on the engraving as they visited the library, he was finally ready to put his plan into action. He arranged a morning for her at the spa, followed up with John Legend tickets for the two of them. When she saw the tickets she exclaimed “Honey, this is the best present ever!”, not knowing that the best was yet to come. He took her to the library courtyard and explained that he had a personalized brick placed for them. Amela began looking for it. When she couldn’t find it, she turned to Faisal for help – only to see him kneeling on one knee in front of the proposal brick! Amela said yes, while her brother and his fiance, and lots of onlookers cheered and congratulated them.

Needless to say, I knew photographing these two was going to be amazing. I mean, two gorgeous people madly in love, surrounded by the beauty of the gorgeous red rocks and lush greenery of Sedona…pinch me!  These two simply took my breath away! I know their fall wedding at Blackstone Country Club, in Peoria, AZ is going to be amazing!
