Team Tami

Cancer. Ugh it’s such an ugly scary word. Six letters that makes your heart drop to the pit of your stomach. Two weeks ago, that word crept barged into my Aunt Tami’s life. Now that it’s here, we wanted to let it know that it’s not welcome and that she has a group fighting along side her, with every intention of kicking its you know what! Things are moving quickly, as they tend to do in the war against cancer, so on Thursday, she’ll go in to get a double mastectomy. So, with less than a week’s notice, her amazing daughter (aka my crazy cousin Amanda) put together the party of all surprise parties, inviting friends and family to surround Aunt Tami with love and support and to energize and invigorate her spirit before this journey begins. Needless to say, she was shocked and overwhelmed when she walked in the door of her son’s house to find 40 of us clad in pink ready to share how much we love her. I could barely see as I cried behind my camera (like usual)…

Amanda did such an amazing job organizing the whole shindig. It’s no easy task to organize people from all over the state, but it’s even harder to trick someone into thinking she was coming to her son’s house for a pre-surgery family photo shoot. Nick, her son and his girlfriend Karen were incredible hosts, allowing us to take over their home for the day. Nick even had the amazing White Eyes restaurant cater the party, with Tami’s favorite food, Fry Bread. My wonderful sister jumped in by baking and decorating over 100 cupcakes in five different flavors. I assigned myself as quality control and since I take my job very seriously, I taste tested every flavor the night before.

I’m the older cousin/sister and I could not be any prouder of Amanda, Nick and Cory. We’ve always been the kids, the ones who needed things done for us, yet they came together and returned the love we’ve been blessed with by our families 10 fold. The planning, thought and effort they put into this party was so moving to witness. And it was all in the name of love and service to a woman who has held each one of our hands, let us cry on her shoulder, and told us we could overcome any adversity that came our way. Well, Aunt Tami, now it’s my turn to tell you that each one of us who loves you is here for you, arms open, shoulders available for the tears that may come from fear now, but more importantly to share the tears of joy as this disease is sent packing. Though the road that lies ahead may be hard, I pray that during those times you will find strength in knowing that you are not alone, and that you are loved more than you will ever know.

You are a survivor and a fighter

Embrace your spirit

Keep faith in your pocket

Laugh, laugh a lot

Indulge in confidence

Grow with each tear

Breathe in positivity

Remain Courageous

Always remember you are loved

Have hope and never give up

BREATHTAKING ROMANTIC
EL CHORRO WEDDING

Every detail of their wedding was soft and romantic, from the soft and airy peach and patina color pallet, to the vintage and personal touches at every turn, their day was as beautiful as Aimee, Erik, and their love.
